Identity Theft - Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
Protect yourself from ID theft.
   1.  Review your credit reports annually.  Correct any mistakes immediately.
   2.  Remove your name from pre-approval lists.
   3. Do not give out your social security number (SSN).  If someone wants your SSN, ask why. Remember only the Social Security Administration, IRS, your employer, and financial institutions need your SSN.
   4.  Do not include your SSN on personal checks.
   5.  Instead of signing your name on back of credit cards, write See my photo ID.
   6.  Don't give your SSN over the phone.  An exception is if you initiate the call and it is needed, after you have asked why it is needed.
If you are concerned that you or a loved one is a victim of Identity Theft, call the FTC Hotline.
If you are a victim of crime, identity theft, or lose your wallet, call the local police immediately.  Then call the three major credit agencies:
